It’s been a while since I last went to a club as my energy levels have been pretty low lately, thanks to work. These pics are pretty dated as they were taken on the same day as Jo’s wedding! JW & I decided to pop by Zouk to meet my friends after the wedding cos I have not seen them in ages.
I’m resting in the comfort of my master bedroom on a Saturday afternoon with jazz music playing in the background while the contractors are busy installing our shoe cabinet and study room furniture.
Although I’m pretty much stuck at home today, with a messy home to clean up afterward, I feel surprisingly relaxed. I feel pampered lying on my 600-thread count Egyptian cotton bedsheets with my KFC cheesy fries and root beer. A quiet respite from the bustle, that’s what this is.
Incidentally, I also found some pictures of myself from past events that I attended, namely the inaugural F1 night race in 08 and the World Gourmet Summit in 09. I cropped away the other people who were in the photos to protect their privacy. π

If you are a shopaholic like me who enjoys experimenting with various styles to suit different occasions, you’ll be happy to know that there’s a new fashion label in town!

ClubCouture is an international fashion label that offers a wide range of fashionable and chic apparel in exciting designs! I have good news to share with all you fashionistas out there – the brand has just entered the Singapore market! Whether you’re looking for basic tops, sophisticated work outfits, funky streetwear or glamorous evening wear, you can be assured that you’ll find something that suits your style at ClubCouture.
What I also like about them is that their clothes are manufactured in-house in limited quantities to ensure exclusivity. No more worries about being caught dead in the same clothes as others when you’re walking down the busy streets of Orchard Road!
I just received my ClubCouture clothes 2 days ago, and boy was I impressed with the speed of delivery and packaging.
I really like the dresses that I chose from their latest collection:
1) Cherry Tube Dress
This is my favourite out of the lot! I love the cute cherry print and unique tuxedo cut-out in the middle of the bodice. The sweetheart neckline, coupled with the tailored silhouette, accentuates your feminine curves and is very flattering to the female form.
You can click on the pictures below for more details on this sexy little dress.
2) Lauren Crotchet Dress
I like dresses with crotchet lace and tulle hems as they make one look sweet and demure. This feminine number can either be worn as a tube dress or as a spaghetti strap dress depending on your preference. I wore mine as a tube dress paired with bright blue bra straps. Fierce heels add sass and personality to the combi too!
Likewise, you can click on the pictures below for more details on this lovely dress.

A tweed jacket is a classic fashion piece that is extremely versatile and never goes out of style. Tweed escalated to high fashion status in the 1950s and 1960s thanks to the ubiquitous fashion icon, Coco Chanel. Not only is a tweed jacket appropriate for work, it doubles up as a smart jacket when paired with casual weekend outfits too.
Incidentally, the movie Coco before Chanel will be screened at the end of this month. There has never been a better time to get yourself a tweed jacket, especially when it is all the rage during this fall/winter season!
I have 3 tweed jackets in different styles, one in white, one in white and black and one in black and grey. Here’s presenting my latest buy, the black and grey tweed jacket. It’ll also look great with a pencil skirt for work or jeans for the weekend!
Some of my favourite local food include satay, hokkien mee, chicken rice, laksa and mee siam. I am very fastidious about food, hence I would usually only frequent tried and tested stalls.
Laksa and mee siam, however tend to be very consistent in terms of taste and quality among hawkers and eateries. That is the reason why I usually wouldn’t mind ordering these dishes at random eateries.
I had a sudden craving for laksa last weekend so we popped by Toast Box to satiate my cravings and hunger pangs. Sometimes, I have laksa at Toast Box for breakfast on weekedays as well.
I like the laksa there because the coconut milk is creamy and the chilli isn’t too spicy. They are also pretty generous with the ingredients, which typically comprise shelled prawns, sliced fish cakes and tofu. Besides laksa, their mee siam is good too, as affirmed by JW.
The bandung drink that I had with my laksa was really refreshing! The taste was rich and to my surprise, there were little jelly bits in there too. It wasn’t just pleasing to the eye, but tantalizing to the taste buds as well. π
I’ve been feeling pretty tired since my 2 overseas work trips and I’m dying to go for a holiday soon!!
I was originally planning to go to Taiwan with a couple of friends but it clashes with F1, which means I can’t go. Now, I’m thinking of going to Japan/Korea in early Sep or Oct, followed by Australia in Dec. Will probably have to make another trip to Japan in Nov for work again.
I used to think that travelling for work is fun, but so much travelling over the past couple of years has led me to think twice about this statement. Travelling is taking a toll on me. π
Anyway, here’s an outfit post from one of the weekends. I’m pretty much into pink these days and fierce heels too. Do excuse the tired face..haven’t been sleeping very well these days.
Happy National Day! Today marks the 44th year anniversary of Singapore’s independence. 9th of August 1965 signaled the beginning of Singapore’s development from a third world country into a first world nation.
I recently started taking an interest in reading MM Lee’s memoirs because as ashamed as I am to say this, I don’t think I know enough about Singapore and our nation-building efforts to truly call myself a Singaporean.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I am alone. Ironically, foreigners, some of whom we call friends and fans of Singapore, appear to have greater knowledge about our highly revered MM Lee, his contributions to Singapore and the process of how our nation attained our achievements today. Why do we always think that the pasture is greener on the other side when Singapore is where we belong?
I think a large proportion of us take many things that Singapore has given us for granted. The safe and secure environment, rigorous education system, transparent and stable political system, attraction of FDI, creation of good jobs and sustainable economic growth (albeit negative growth in this year’s context) are just some of the things that we take for granted.
What we fail to realize is that not many developed nations are able to provide two of the above-mentioned benefits to their people, much less all at the same time. Shouldn’t we be thankful for what we have?
After interacting with numerous foreigners who have relocated to Singapore and understanding their reasons for doing so inevitably made me realize how lucky we Singaporeans are.
On a brighter and less serious note, here’s my tribute to our National Day.
Happy Birthday Singapore!
We were invited to my friend’s housewarming party last Saturday, the day after I touched down from Japan.
I was really excited because the owners are interior design buffs and I knew that their home would look fabulous. The owners had bought an old walk-up apartment near town and transformed it into a modern haven that still retains its quiet, old-world charm.
The theme was simple – white and oak, but it was the ingenious juxtaposition of these modern elements with unique shapes, textures and accent pieces reminiscent of an era long gone that truly enhanced the home’s character.

It was also interesting that there were short flights of steps in the master bedroom and dining room, which added dimension to the apartment. I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the selection of art and interior design books along the walkway. I swore I could have spent the entire night poring through those books.
I especially love the cement wall in the living room and the brick wall in the dining room. The brick wall was part of the original architecture, and it has aged beautifully through the years.
Glass ceiling panels that allow sunlight to flow into the dining area also provide contrast between natural and artificial lighting, creating a different atmosphere at various points of the day.
Don’t they have a gorgeous home?? The apartment looks like it just came right out of an interior design magazine. I like it when people take pride in their home. It is very inspiring. Indeed, as the owners put it, this beautiful home is a result of their labour of love.
As JW and I are still in the process of some minor renovation works., we’ll love to have all our friends over soon for a real housewarming gathering too!
Established in 1994, Samantha Thavasa is a Japanese fashion company that is well-known for their popular handbags in a multitude of designs and colours. The brand’s target clientele has traditionally been working women in their 20s and its marketing campaigns have always been characterised by the extensive use of western celebrities such as Beyonce, the Hilton sisters, and most recently, Jennifer Lopez as well as Sarah Jessica Parker.
I have always wanted to lay my hands on a Samantha Thavasa bag.
While some designs are a little too loud for me, they do carry very tastefully designed bags with excellent workmanship. During my recent trip to Tokyo, I had the fortuitous opportunity to get up close and personal with the brand.
I don’t usually talk about my work trips as everything is highly private and confidential, but well, I guess I can talk about a bag that I purchased π
I got this baby at 50% off its original price at the retail shop. There was a family sale in the brand’s main office as well, but we had to rush off to the airport, much to my dismay.
This bag charm was purchased separately. I love the diamonte ribbon and pearls.
As you would probably have noticed, I am really attracted to red bags these days. Just in time for National Day too, don’t you think? π
Look, we even bought white artificial roses (looks pretty real huh) to match our red Murano glass vase from Venice. How apt.
Time to nurse myself back to the pink of health now. I’m suffering from a bad sore throat and slight fever. Bye!

What I really liked about the hotel was the massage. Though it wasn’t dirt cheap (my hair spa and head massage cost me about SGD100), the tranquil resort surroundings and massage expertise made it all worthwhile. Sometimes, we just need a little pampering to feel all better again. π When all else fails, a little retail therapy and a bitching session with fellow colleagues would help too!
Besides our workplan presentation and massage, karaoke and ping-pong were some of the activities that kept us busy for the 2 days. The sedentary me refused to partake in other sports such as go-karting and water sports ( I can’t swim!). It is a miracle how I managed to achieve the Gold standard for my physical fitness tests in the past.
Would I go back again? I guess I would, but I’ll probably try out a different resort.
I can’t get enough of head massages, which also explains why I have been going to salons for their wash & blow service recently.:P
Back to work now! π
