F1 Grand Prix (Friday’s race)
Most of my colleagues received free corporate tix to the F1 race on Friday, so off we went to watch the race in the comfort of an air-conditioned suite, complete with a mediocre buffet spread (quite tolerable nonetheless) and free-flow of drinks. The best view (think meandering bends) of the race can also be seen from the top floor of the suite. I had an extra ticket too, which I kindly offered to my bf, but he said he would rather rockclimb. All his colleagues said he was mad!
I’m not much of an F1 fan, but I had an incredible time munching on free food and gossiping with my crazy colleagues. Erm…I sound so auntie.
Here’re some lousy pics from my hp:
I can’t imagine why anyone would pay so much to watch the race from the grandstand. Our weather is so hot and humid!!
Xin Wang HK Cafe
This is one of my favourite hangouts. I absolutely adore the soya beancurd dessert, which comes in a ridiculously large portion. Then again, that’s what I like about it. It comes in a bucket!
The waitresses were very amazed when we ordered this after devouring our main courses. I may be skinny, but I eat like a cow.
No more makeup for me these days except for my undereye concealer, eyeliner and the occasional mascara.
I think we look like kids.
New Home
We went to check out our new home. Renovation works have been stalled until the contractor rectifies the flooring problem. My future MIL found quite a number of hollow tiles.
Presenting our two walk-in-wardobes (still under construction):
Entrance to mine.
Entrance to his.
Master bedroom bathroom (only tiles are up)
Kitchen flooring. I like the large black tiles.
looks great.. your new place.
hollow tiles ah, similiar problems with my current house, unless heavy traffic area, if not the tiles usually won’t pop out or crack that easily..
Reno cost should be quite a fair bit.
Thanks! Haven’t heard from you in a long time.
We’re kiasu…better safe than sorry right. π I’ll rather not risk it. Yes, reno costs are crazily high these days. It’s appalling.
Heavy traffic is one thing, wrong alignment and changes in temperature could cause pop ups too especially in areas of prolong hours of sun.
Anyway the black tiles are nice, wait to see how it ties with the cabinet… hope they are slip proof… If not a bit hard when someone is mopping or scrubbing the floor.
Been busy with work, new home n of course my little boy. π
I rem taking one weekend going over each tile in the flat, even those in the toilet walls. Haha..
Cost of raw materials has more than double from what my fren in the construction told me. I was recently quoted by one ID firm for “supervision” cost. Which she told me she will have someone supervise all the work. Eventually I went for a contractor since the new home has little work to be done, and I know what little customisation I need. Now I am looking for those rain shower fixtures for the house.
As for your reno, do take note of any fixture near air-con or the toilet where moisture may gather. More wear and tear on these areas, wallpaper or carpentery work to note.
Hi Piero, do agree our c’try temp is quite “bad”, its humid, affect alot of things. I have visited five years old homes, and notice bubble laminated floor.

Piero: Ya the tiles are slip proof of course!! I’m having white kitchen cabinets, but with laminated surfaces so it’s easier to clean.
bwilly: ya we burnt a big hole in our pockets already. I’m having a rain shower in my master bedroom too! But I heard you have to find out about the water pressure in your house first, if not the consistency may be affected.
Thanks for the tips!
any good recommendation on rain shower? Our masterbed rm comes with a bathtub, so I don’t suppose I can install there. Consider the cost, installing it in the common toilet to be shared will be more apprioriate. π
I saw one at my home selling for $500, but the additional shower handle is in cheap plastic. In the long run, will peel off – quite unsightly. Where did u get yours? My contractor asked me to check with the guy who sell and they can advise better, plus install at a cheaper cost 2.
bwilly: sorry, I’m quite clueless when it comes to such things..I rely quite heavily on my interior designer’s recommendations, taking into consideration my budget too of course. π
I got mine at a toiletries shop at Balestier..can’t remember the name offhand but i’ll try to get hold of the receipt from my bf. We prefer not to have the handle actually..cos it looks very clinical to me.
handle will practical at times though, my wife likes to wash stuffs after her bath.. keke..
I had one of those rain shower thing in my new home, cant really function well. Called town council they say cannot do anything about increasing water pressure. Asked ID he said can… add a pump to draw what at higher speed and volume. Just that if neighbours find out and make a complaint then the pump has to be removed.
Was told that only private houses with their own water pressure fittings especially those landed, can then enjoy the rain shower’s potential.
